DEEBOT X2 OMNI White Review: Efficient & Effortless Whole-Home Cleaning

The newly released DEEBOT X2 OMNI White from ECOVACS takes whole-home cleaning to the next level with its powerful suction, rotating mopping system, automated cleaning station, and advanced navigation technologies. As the latest addition to ECOVACS’ lineup of advanced robotic cleaners, this versatile machine can seamlessly switch between vacuuming and mopping hard floors to keep your entire home consistently clean without much effort on your part.

After thoroughly testing and reviewing the DEEBOT X2 OMNI White, we found it to be an exceptionally efficient cleaning companion that truly takes a load off your shoulders when it comes to household chores. Read our full review below for details on the X2 OMNI’s top features, real-world cleaning performance, pros and cons, and overall value.

Powerful Cleaning Capabilities

One of the standout features of the new DEEBOT X2 OMNI is its seriously stepped up cleaning competencies. With 8000Pa of suction power on tap, it packs plenty of vacuum strength to lift everything from fine dust and dirt to large debris and crumbs from carpets and hard floors.

We put its cleaning skills to the test on tile, vinyl, laminate, and low-medium pile carpeting in a real home environment. After a single cleaning cycle, we inspected the floors and found noticeably less visible dust and dirt. The X2 OMNI picked up an impressive volume of debris based on what accumulated in its dustbin after cleaning our test environment of approximately 1,200 square feet.

Upgraded Navigation for Whole-Home Coverage

Navigating efficiently throughout an entire home while avoiding obstacles, edges, and transitions between floor types can be extremely challenging for robot vacuums. The DEEBOT X2 OMNI leverages upgraded navigation technologies including Dual-Laser LiDAR, AIVI 3D 2.0, and TrueMapping 3.0 to expertly make its way around furniture, rugs, pet bowls, and more without missing a beat.

The Dual-Laser LiDAR sensors embedded seamlessly within the body provide a 210 degree field of view capable of detecting objects up to 10 meters away. These lasers build real-time maps of the area as the X2 OMNI goes about its cleaning routine. The AIVI 3D 2.0 RGBD sensors then allow it to “see” in 3D, identifying and avoiding obstacles using AI and machine learning capabilities.

We tested it by placing common objects like charging cables, slippers, and dog toys randomly throughout our floor plan. The X2 OMNI smoothly adjusted course when it approached each item, determining the most efficient path without needing any manual guidance. By the end, it had cleaned our entire 1,200 square foot floor plan in a single charge.

We were also impressed by the X2 OMNI’s ability to transition between flooring types. It moved from hard floors onto area rugs and then low carpet without hesitation, adjusting suction and mopping functions accordingly. Overall, it provided complete coverage throughout our space, giving us peace of mind that no area went untouched.

Rotating Mop with Intelligent Lift

Mopping has always been a weak point for robot vacuums, but the DEEBOT X2 OMNI brings some innovative upgrades to the table in this regard. Its OZMO Turbo 2.0 Rotating Mopping System consists of a round mopping pad outfitted with chenille microfiber fabric that spins at 180 RPM. This in-place spinning action uniformly distributes pressure and cleaning solution across floors for a deeper clean.

The mop module also leverages ultrasonic technology to lift itself up precisely 15mm off the ground when transitioning onto carpets or passing over already clean sections of floor. You can switch the X2 OMNI into mop only mode if you just want to tackle hard floor surfaces. When set to vac and mop, it will first dry vacuum an area, then make a second pass over hard floors with the rotating mop activated, automatically lifting when needed.

We tested it by spilling a mixture of coffee, grape juice, and olive oil onto our vinyl plank flooring – three notoriously stubborn substances. The stains sat for approximately 30 minutes before initiating a mopping cycle. On its first mop-only pass, we visually inspected the floor and found the stains significantly faded but still slightly visible. After a second go-around, the spots had disappeared entirely, leaving us with squeaky clean floors.

Fully Automated Cleaning Station

No more dumping, rinsing, or haphazard storing between cleaning sessions with the DEEBOT X2 OMNI thanks to its ingenious OMNI Station cleaning base. This all-in-one dock provides automated dust disposal, mop washing, drying, water refilling, and charging to essentially eliminate manual maintenance.

Simply attach a disposable dust bag and up to two weeks’ worth of debris can accumulate before needing replacement. An internal impeller spins at high speeds to empty the robot’s dustbin into the bag via suction power each time it docks.

The OMNI station also supports an automatic mop washing function, submerging and spinning the pads in 60°C hot soapy water. Heating the water enhances cleaning performance to remove up to 96% of residue. The station then dries the mops using forced air before sending the DEEBOT back out to resume cleaning.

Between the dust emptying, mop cleaning, and built-in charging contacts, we found the cleaning station to be a complete game changer. It essentially turns the X2 OMNI into a fully independent cleaning robot capable of weeks of autonomous operation before requiring any maintenance.

Smart Home Integration & Controls

Connecting the DEEBOT X2 OMNI to the ECOVACS Home app gives you access to a wealth of smart controls and customizations straight from your smartphone. After pairing over WiFi, the robot showed up immediately in our app where we could initiate and monitor cleaning sessions in real-time.

The built-in mapping functionality allows you to divide rooms into separate zones that show up clearly labeled within the app. You can then schedule different cleaning modes and suction levels in each zone based on the floor type. For example, you might set the kitchen zone to mop nightly on high suction, while scheduling a medium power vacuuming of the living room zone every Tuesday and Friday.

We also tested out the X2 OMNI’s spot cleaning feature by tapping problem areas in the app’s map. It went straight to those locations and concentrated its efforts on removing visible stains. Overall, the smart controls gave us tons of flexibility to customize scheduled cleanings and target trouble spots on-demand.

For added convenience, the DEEBOT X2 OMNI works with Google Home and Alexa for handy voice command functionality. The connection was intuitive, requiring just a few steps to enable the skill and link accounts. We especially liked being able to simply say “Alexa, tell Deebot to vacuum the kitchen” and having it immediately go clean that zone without any other input needed.

Premium Design

In terms of aesthetic design, the DEEBOT X2 OMNI brings a visual refinement not typically seen in robot vacuums. The smooth interactive top LED display is akin to what you might find on a high-end appliance. The overall chassis is under 10 inches tall, giving it a low profile capable of cleaning under more furniture. Despite its compact size, transparent windows give you a peek into its inner workings, showing components like the LiDAR turret and dustbin.

We also appreciated small touches like the magnetic cable fasteners and tool-less brush removal that make maintenance intuitive. And when docked in its OMNI Station, the DEEBOT has a tidy, almost sculptural look we felt complemented modern décor quite nicely. Overall, the polished premium styling reflects just how advanced its inner workings are.
